Typical, unique city square in the old town. Placed in the burgo viejo, it was there that the premises of the market were placed from the Middle Ages on, and for many years. Surrounded by porched houses, and there is a baroque fountain in its centre, which was built in 1754 by the Dominican monk Fray Francisco Izquierdo y Távira, and a statue of San Vicente Ferrer in a preaching attitude. The triangular Plaza del Campo is the square on which several traditional streets of Lugo’s old town converge, in those streets, there are several noble, emblazoned buildings that stand out as they were the dwellings of age-old noble lineages in Lugo. At present, this is an area to eat tapas and to carry out specific cultural celebrations.
