The convent of Sto. Domingo, founded and built in the 13th century, has a
church of Latin cross plan, with one single nave, covered with a barrel vault,
just as the nave of the transept. It has been restored and the only remains of
its original mendicant gothic style are its three polygonal apses, which
support long, thin windows, very high and with colour glasses, as well as the
Northern gate, which belongs to the main façade that is hidden behind a portico
built during the 18th century. Nowadays it is the convent of the Agustinas
Recoletas, who were relocated in it in 1857, as they had been expelled from
their own convent after the Decreto de exclaustración (Secularization Decree)
by Mendizábal.
