This joint promotion scheme is a result of the work carried out
within the framework of the ATLANTE project “Improve the
World Heritage Atlantic Cities of UNESCO”.
The ATLANTE project rests upon the transnational cooperation
taking place among Atlantic municipalities with historic centres
classified by UNESCO as World Heritage of Humanity, and is
co-financed through the INTERREG III-B “Atlantic Area”/ERDF.
One of the goals established was to promote transversal tourism
between the cities, as an aid to mutual knowledge and to the
creation of a cooperative network for the promotion of tourism
and information for both local citizens and visitors.
In this context, and considering the cities possessing World Heritage
of Humanity to be privileged destinations for tourism, the strategy
to be developed was designed, and included within it was the
conception and publication of this joint promotion guide.
