Iglesia de Nª Sra. da Conceição - s.XVI 9_i The Church of Na. Sra. da Conceição underwent changes during the 17th and 18th centuries. It is placed in the boundaries of the so-called Zona Classificada de Angra do Heroísmo, among a set of medieval streets. This temple devoted to Mary is surrounded by an archaic urban arrangement whose plan is contrary to the geometry of the old town.

After several changes, the baroque façade substituted a previous hermitage dating from the beginning of the settlement, which was also devoted to Na. Sra. da Conceição.

Inside it, there are cloth paintings representing the episodes of the life of the Virgin and the Descent from the Cross, all of them from the 17th century. The three interior naves are presided by golden, carved altarpieces, and a portable altarpiece with remarkable panels made by the masters of the by the beginning of the 17th century.
