It is the heart of Lugo’s life at present, and it is presided by the baroque City Hall. It was modified and enlarged during the 19th century, and then remodelled once more by the beginning of the 20th century. Apart from the City Hall, there are other outstanding buildings, such as a baroque house and several buildings from the Restoration period, namely, the Círculo de las Artes. At its centre there is a bandstand built in 1888.
