The Abastos Street Market of Santiago was built in
1941, but in order to explain the history of the Market we must mention its
predecessor, the City Market. It is important because it was the first time
that the different markets that existed in Compostela by that time were
agglutinated beneath one single roof. It was demolished in 1937 to build the
present one, the Plaza de Abastos.The Market has been functioning for the last three centuries, and it has turned
into a leader shopping centre for fresh products in Santiago

El Mercado lleva funcionado en estos últimos tres siglos, llegando a convertirse en un centro lider en la comercialización de productos frescos en Santiago.
